Joyful Stars Blog Hop - October 2016

Welcome to the Joyful Stars blog hop for the month of October if you've arrived from Debi's blog you're in the right place.  For a complete list of all the hoppers this month go to Joyce's blog

October is my favorite month because my son's birthday is this month and my favorite holiday- Halloween.  BOO!!  Outside the leaves are falling, the temperature is cool and I'm nice and cozy inside scrapping some pages with the new Swan Lake collection from Close To My Heart.  Although this paper packet is fall themed with acorns and golden colors, I felt like it matched perfectly not only with Thanksgiving but a fancy Great Gatsby themed party.  I just loved the swans and the gold foil accents that really bring this packet to life.  That's the beauty of our papers.  They have so many possibilities!  Don't think of them as tied to a particular event or theme. Think out of the box and shake things up!  You never know what you'll come up with :)  Here's my take on the Workshop Your Way layouts and cards...

This month I've also created some spooky single page kits they're all precut and just need a little assembling and some fun photos.

Now hop on over to Betty's blog and continue on the hop I'm sure you'll enjoy all of the fabulous new ideas we have to show you this month!

Happy Crafting! :)

Joyful Stars Blog Hop September 2016

Happy September everyone! What a crazy month it has been for me! I decided to home school my son so we have been on a new schedule and busy with new activities.  I started a new semester at work with all new students and joined a new committee.  I had my car towed, an unfortunate event that should not have happened.  I also finished organizing my craft space and had two successful and fun scrapbooking classes!  And I even gained another special downline on my team!

So now that I have caught you up on all my recent endeavors, I must apologize to Joyce and the Hoppers for the lateness of this post.  Sorry guys!  But as the saying goes "better late than never'
so...

If you arrived here from Helen Gullett's beautiful clean cards you are on the right track.  I have been working on getting those Halloween photos scrapbooked.  I have a lot of years to catch up on and I am using the fabulous Workshops from CTMH to get me started.  Our new Halloween themed pack is called Jeepers Creepers.  It has the traditional colors of orange, purple, black and green with the cutest monsters, spooky silly eyeballs and lightening bolts which were perfect for my son's Harry Potter costume.  Here is my take on the Jeepers Creepers Workshop Your Way and an additional layout.  I am using this paper collection to scrapbook some of our older Halloween photos since I think it works great with those less-scary costumes.  The caption for each photo tells you how I changed the WYW to better fit my style and photos.

I added a mat on the left page since my photo wasn't as large as the pattern called for.

I changed the journaling block to better fit my page.

I stamped and cut the yellow ghost on the left page from the Monstrous Halloween Thin Cuts Bundle and added more monster footprints and puffy eyeballs.

I added a flip flap to the page and here it is with the flip flap open

this page was based on the Quartet pattern from Reflections

I have more to show you but I have not yet added the photos so I will save them for next month.  Hop on over to Joyce's Blog next but before you do,  please leave me a comment below.  Thanks and happy crafting!

Joyful Stars July Blog Hop

Welcome again friends to the Joyful Stars blog hop.  If you have arrived here from Lori's blog you are on the right path.  Today I am celebrating my birthday (a little late)  and my anniversary (a little early) with Close To My Heart! My birthday was in May and my 7th Anniversary with CTMH is July 13th :). In honor of these two occasions I created this layout using our confetti wishes paper.  This is a spin on the layout that came with the workshop on the go for this paper packet.  Of course I had to make it my own by adding the dimensions, layering and paint flickering.  I also changed the paper designs from the originals too.  Don't be afraid to try a new combination if it better suits you and your photos! I am pretty excited about the results and ready to celebrate with my CTMH friends today!
